Design and procure practical custom stamps
An office stamp, a date stamp and marking on packaging perform different tasks. Content, imprint size, device and ink must work together. A neutral description is enough for the first quote; confidential artwork is agreed later.
New device or replacement text plate
Specify a complete stamp or a replacement plate for an existing device. For spares, model and actual compatible plate size matter. A similarly sized plate is not automatically suitable.
Count devices or plates and describe different designs with their quantities in one list. Accessories, new pads and fitting a replacement plate should be visible in the quote.
Text, graphics and changing information
Specify text, logo, date or numbers. Fixed designs and adjustable bands serve different purposes. Date format and available year range must suit the intended use.
Describe approximate line count and desired elements. Neutral examples are sufficient initially; a real signature or confidential documents are unnecessary. Check the final content carefully yourself.
Plan imprint size and readability
Match shape and finished size to the available area. More text needs space or a different layout. Smaller type does not solve every space issue; fine lines and small gaps can disappear in the imprint.
| Design | Check before approval |
|---|---|
| Several text lines | Order and adequate spacing |
| Logo | Clear contour and suitable simplification |
| Frame | Clearance from text and edge |
| Date or number | Readable variable information |
Choose for actual handling
A self-inking stamp has an integrated pad; a hand stamp uses a separate pad. Pocket models and devices for frequent use may differ in handling and construction. Request a model suited to actual use.
Ask about compatible spare pads and plates. An existing pad may have moulded to the previous imprint; assess whether a new pad is useful when changing the plate. This is not a universal requirement for every replacement.
Assess ink and surface together
Describe paper, cardboard or another marking surface. Smooth, coated and low-absorbency materials may need a different ink or system from ordinary paper.
Colour, drying, resistance and compatible pads need agreement. Not every specialist ink suits every device. Waterproof and fast-drying are specific requirements rather than properties of all stamp inks.
Artwork, proof and corrections
Clarify ready artwork, logo preparation or a text layout to be created. Agree file requirements for the actual stamp. Ordinary single-colour imprints often require deliberate simplification of photographic artwork.
Check the layout at actual size: spelling, order, digits, shape and border. Approval covers the displayed content; a test impression on the intended material also shows how the imprint behaves. Corrections after manufacture can require new parts.
Compare the complete delivery
Compare the same devices, plates, inks and quantities. Artwork, setup, extra designs, pads, accessories and shipping may be charged separately. A low device price is not the same as the lowest-cost suitable complete execution.
Include timing, spare requirements and your own replacement or distribution time. Unknown shipping charges are not free. Request the required quality rather than comparing unsupported lifespan or impression-count claims.
| Item | Comparable basis |
|---|---|
| Device or plate | Model, imprint size and quantity |

Frequently asked questions
Can I order just a new text plate?
Depending on device and supplier. Model and compatible plate size must be known; check the existing pad as well.
Can a photograph be used as artwork?
It can be a starting point. Clarify which details and tones can actually be reproduced in the intended imprint.
What font size is suitable?
This depends on area, font and stamp process. Check a full-size layout rather than assuming a universal minimum.
Does a paper stamp work on plastic?
Not automatically. Surface, ink and device need to suit the actual material.
What details are needed for a date stamp?
Desired date format, additional fixed text and required year range.
Do I need to upload a signature?
No. Scope and a neutral layout description are sufficient initially. Special artwork is agreed separately later.
