Choose stickers for their use and application
A promotional sticker, a removable campaign label and marking on a plastic container need different properties. A useful quote considers the visible material, adhesive and how the stickers will be applied.
Describe the surface and exposure
Identify the surface: glass, coated metal, cardboard or a known plastic type. Smooth, rough, curved and flexible are useful distinctions. Where the material is unknown, a later adhesion test may help.
Indoor or outdoor use is not always enough. Describe moisture, sunlight, cleaning and unusual temperatures. Conditions during application can differ from those during use.
Define the desired adhesion
Decide whether the sticker should stay permanently, be removed later or be repositioned repeatedly. These are different goals. Removability needs to suit the actual surface and intended period of use.

Choose face material and protection together
Paper and film differ in appearance and behaviour. Transparent material needs artwork that remains readable on the underlying surface. White printing or an opaque base may be relevant for the design.
A laminate may be useful but does not replace a suitable adhesive. Clarify resistance of the finished combination: water, weather and cleaning resistance are separate requirements.
Specify finished size, cutting and designs
Give finished width and height, or diameter for round stickers. Describe custom contours and quantities per design in one common brief. A total count alone is insufficient for mixed versions.
Bleed, safe margins and cutting paths follow the production instructions. The cutting path is prepared separately from visible artwork. Have small lettering and fine contours checked before approval.
Individual pieces, sheets or rolls
Individually cut stickers are handled differently from labels on sheets or rolls. Choose according to distribution, manual application or machine processing.
Machine rolls require later agreement on winding direction, core and diameter. Name the machine in the common brief if known; you do not need to guess technical specifications.
Arrange artwork checks and a sample
Clarify whether print-ready artwork exists or design and preparation are needed. Agree checks of size, contour, colours and variable content. A digital proof does not establish actual adhesion.
For demanding surfaces or removal requirements, test a sample on the original material. Define the intended application and approval. Printing, application and any later removal are separate services.
Compare the complete execution
Compare the same quantities, designs, materials and delivery formats. Preparation, setup, cutting, protective finish, packaging and transport can change the total. Several small design batches do not necessarily cost the same as one large run.
Choose the lowest-cost suitable execution meeting quality and deadline. Allow for useful spare stock and internal application time. Unknown shipping costs and your own work must not be treated as free.
