Wood pellet delivery: goods, storage and complete costs
Loose pellets and bagged goods are delivered differently. A suitable job therefore connects fuel, quantity, storage and unloading. Compare not only the visible goods price but where and how the pellets will be available after delivery.
Choose format for the heating system and storage
Loose goods normally arrive by suitable silo truck and are blown into the intended store. Bagged goods arrive packaged, often on pallets. A bulk bag is a large package with its own transport and handling needs. These formats are not freely interchangeable.
| Format | Clarify before ordering |
|---|---|
| Loose goods | Suitable store, filling and truck access. |
| Bags | Bag weight, total amount and unloading point. |
| Bulk bag | Package weight and suitable unloading. |
Check quality and equipment requirements
Fuel quality and intended equipment use must match. A designation such as ENplus A1 is useful but does not replace heating-system requirements. Certification and technical product standards are distinct. Clarify goods, marking and origin rather than treating every marketing label as equivalent.
Compare kilograms, tonnes and pallets correctly
One tonne is 1,000 kg. A pallet is not automatically one tonne of pellets. Bag counts, weights and net quantities may vary. Convert prices to the same mass and check available order units.
For loose goods, available space matters rather than total store volume alone. Existing stock and usable space count. If quantity is unclear, request an estimate or assessment; you need not calculate storage engineering yourself.
Distinguish first filling from refilling
For a new store, coordinate delivery and suitable preparation. For a used store, known findings from the previous delivery help. The specialist assesses routing, condition and coordination. You need not choose blowing pressure or enter the store for the request.
Separate kerbside delivery from movement to the store
For bags, kerbside delivery does not mean the bags are in the cellar. Identify extra carrying, stairs and the requested storage spot in the offer. Clarify pallet exchange, return or extra charges. Bulk bags need suitable unloading; the format alone does not confirm on-site handling.
Calculate goods and full delivery costs
One reviewed, undated online offer lists CHF 405.90 including VAT for 66 bags of 15 kg, or 990 kg. That converts to CHF 410 per 1,000 kg before transport priced separately by destination. It is a particular bagged-goods example, not a Swiss average or loose-pellet rate.
Loose-goods pricing may separate fuel and blowing or delivery charges. Packaged formats, transport and unloading change the total. Compare equivalent quantities and service at the same time; seasonal advice does not guarantee a cheapest ordering month.
| Cost | Clarify |
|---|---|
| Goods | Net weight, grade and minimum order unit. |
| Delivery | Transport, blowing or unloading. |
| Extras | Carrying, difficult access and pallets. |
| Total | VAT, timing, confirmed services and exclusions. |
Request with a few details
Format, approximate quantity, unloading, site and access form the basis. For loose goods, say whether the store has been used before. The supplier can clarify missing technical details and suitable grade. Put special requirements together in an optional note.
Frequently asked questions
Is a pallet always one tonne?
No. Compare bag count, bag weight and total net amount.
Can I order loose goods instead of bags?
Only with suitable storage and filling. Formats are not freely interchangeable.
What does kerbside delivery mean?
Goods are placed at the agreed unloading point. Movement to a cellar or store needs separate agreement.
Must I inspect the store myself?
No. Give known details. Entry or technical inspection is not part of the request.
Does the lowest tonne rate mean the cheapest delivery?
Not automatically. Transport, blowing or carrying, packaging and VAT matter.
How is delivery scheduled?
Agree a delivery window, access and a reachable contact with the supplier. A requested date is not a confirmed appointment. Clarify preparation and extra charges; personal technical work is not needed to make the enquiry.
