Compare motorhome hire for your trip
A motorhome combines transport and living space. Check approved travel seats, sleeping places, luggage and practical equipment separately. A complete offer explains the price and what is included at collection, during the trip and at return.
Layout rather than vehicle name
Describe travellers, beds and whether daily bed conversion is acceptable. Kitchen, bathroom and storage should fit actual use. A compact campervan and a larger motorhome differ in space, parking and living comfort; greater length does not automatically provide the right beds.
| Need | Check |
|---|---|
| Travellers | Enough approved seats with suitable restraints? |
| Beds | Suitable number, dimensions and daily conversion? |
| Luggage / bikes | Storage, rack and remaining load capacity? |
| Parking pitch | Suitable length, height and services? |
Seats, weight and entitlement
Beds do not guarantee the same number of approved travel seats. Confirm both figures for all travellers. Available load capacity must also cover luggage, accessories and supplies. Check the particular vehicle together with driving entitlement.
A category B label does not automatically apply to every motorhome. Initially, briefly state licence status and known driver requirements. Personal document numbers, individual traveller weights and health information are unnecessary.
Agree period and handover
Specify the start and actual duration. Weekly packages, minimum hire periods and seasonal handover days differ. Allow time for instruction rather than planning a simple key exchange. A different return station or delivery needs explicit confirmation.
Check the inventory
Compare the list rather than the word “complete”. Crockery, bedding, outdoor furniture, bike racks and connection equipment may be included, optional or your responsibility. Mention pets, child seats or winter use early; suitable equipment and permitted use need separate confirmation.
Separate rental total and trip costs
Compare the same period, route and equipment. Intermediated offers may add service and insurance costs to the owner’s listed price. Plan campsite, fuel, toll and other trip costs separately. A deposit is security, not a complete cost breakdown.
| Item | What to compare |
|---|---|
| Hire and fees | Final total including mandatory items |
| Mileage | Whole-trip allowance and excess |
| Inventory | Included equipment and extras |
| Protection | Excess, exclusions and breakdown help |
| Return | Cleaning, toilet, fuel and late return |
Plan route and services realistically
Estimate total distance, countries and route restrictions. Height, length and weight can limit parking and access. Clarify electricity, water, heating and fridge operation for planned stops. An inventory does not establish unlimited off-grid use.
Contract, protection and changes
Compare remaining excess, exclusions and breakdown procedures. Confirm additional drivers and permitted countries. Resolve cancellation, date changes and early return before booking; finishing early does not automatically earn a refund.
Document collection and return
Have the vehicle and living systems explained and existing damage recorded. Check inventory, levels and essential appliance operation. Agree required cleaning and emptying at return. For multiple vehicles, compare each requirement rather than assuming identical layouts.
Frequently asked questions
Do beds equal approved travel seats?
No. Confirm approved travel seats and usable beds separately.
Is my car licence sufficient?
Check the specific vehicle and entitlement. A general fleet statement does not replace that check.
What does fully equipped hire mean?
Only the confirmed inventory establishes inclusions. Clarify bedding, bike accessories and personal equipment.
Can I enquire about a short hire?
Yes, give the actual period. Minimum hire, billing and collection need confirmation; an hourly rate is not promised.
How do I account for mileage and cleaning?
Compare the entire route with the allowance. Clarify interior/exterior cleaning, emptying and excess distance separately.
What should the first enquiry include?
Travellers, beds, vehicle count, locations, period, distance and equipment. No identity copies, card details or health dossiers.
