Plan collaborations around audiences and scope
A collaboration involves more than publishing a post. Audience fit, production, approvals and rights determine the work. A clear brief and realistic scope help make quotes comparable.
Define goals and audiences
Identify the product, audience and target market. Awareness, explanatory content and measurable visits are different goals. Language, region and interests help select suitable people.
Follower counts alone demonstrate neither audience fit nor achievable outcomes. Request understandable audience data and relevant examples of previous content.
Separate the services
Specify tasks retained internally. Selection advice does not automatically include contracts, production or support after publication.
| Task | Scope to agree |
|---|---|
| Selection | Research, proposals and outreach |
| Content | Formats, quantity and approvals |
| Coordination | Timelines, agreements and management |
| Evaluation | Data access, metrics and report |
Agree formats and volume
Plan videos, images, short posts or longer explanations for the channel. Quantity, length and languages belong in the brief. For ongoing work, specify volume per agreed delivery period.
A precise framework leaves room for individual expression. Define supported product claims, mandatory elements and permitted changes before production starts.
Make advertising recognisable
Audiences should clearly recognise commercial content. Agree understandable disclosure and use relevant platform functions. Benefits in kind can also establish a commercial relationship.
Check platform rules and requirements of the target markets separately. Enabling a platform label does not automatically meet every requirement for the particular post.
Agree use and reuse
Distinguish publishing on the creator’s channel, using content on your own channels and paid distribution. Duration, countries, editing and exclusivity influence the engagement.
Clarify rights to images, music, statements and other materials. Receiving a file does not automatically grant unlimited reuse.
Coordinate briefing, approval and publishing
Prepare the core message, product information and responsible contacts. Agree proposals, revisions, approval deadlines and publications. Product delivery, travel and events may add work.
Agree a process for changes or cancelled posts. Define who handles questions and reactions after publication too.
Compare quotes and results
Compare equivalent tasks and usage terms. Separate coordination, creator fees, production and additional advertising. A fee does not establish certain reach or sales.
| Item | What to compare |
|---|---|
| Selection | Number of proposals and contacts |
| Production | Posts, versions and revisions |
| Rights | Channels, duration and paid use |
| Extras | Product delivery, travel and advertising |
| Report | Source, period and metrics |
Frequently asked questions
Must creators already be selected?
No. Describe audiences, topics and channels. Research and selection can form part of the engagement.
Are follower counts enough?
No. Region, language, interests and available audience data matter too.
Are free products outside advertising?
Not automatically. Benefits in kind can form part of a commercial collaboration; clarify appropriate disclosure.
Can we use posts as advertisements?
Within agreed rights. Paid distribution, duration and editing should be expressly included.
Is content approved before publication?
Agree approvals and revisions. Creative freedom also needs clear mandatory information.
Which outcomes are useful?
Metrics linked to goals, with source and period. Publications, interactions and sales are different measures.
