Choose printed carpets for their intended function
A logo entrance mat, a printed exhibition carpet and a jass games mat perform different jobs. Suitable artwork is not enough: surface, backing, dimensions and care must suit the use.
State the actual use
Describe an entrance, exhibition stand, room or games table. Traffic, moisture, footwear and moving furniture can change exposure. Indoor and outdoor suitability need separate assessment.
Specify a finished printed carpet or printing on an existing piece. Used or coated carpets are not automatically suitable for further decoration.
Clarify finished size, shape and border
Give finished width and length and the intended shape. Maximum external measurements and a contour description help with unusual shapes. Clarify whether the border is included.
For recessed fitting, usable dimensions and overall thickness also matter. Manufacturing tolerances should be known before ordering; loose laying differs from a precisely fitted insert.
| Detail | Meaning for the quote |
|---|---|
| Finished size | Total finished width and length |
| Border | Included, additional or omitted |
| Recess | Clear dimensions and required height |
| Shape | Rectangle, rounded edge or custom contour |
Pile, backing and wear
Pile height and texture affect feel, dirt collection and design detail. A games mat requires different handling from a heavily used entrance mat. Request a material suited to actual use.
Backing and edging must suit the surface underneath. Clarify flat laying, cleaning and any placement on existing carpet. A general description does not guarantee compatibility with every floor.
Match artwork to the surface
Describe logo, photo or graphics, colours and orientation. Fine lines and small text may look different from printing on smooth paper. Visible final design size is therefore important.
For critical colour work, request an appropriate material or colour sample. Screen colours alone are not a binding comparison. A digital layout shows placement and border without fully reproducing pile or actual print appearance.
Check suitability at the intended location
Public buildings, events or particular passages may involve operator rules or fire-performance requirements. Clarify the necessary product documents for the actual location and installation.
Escape routes and doors must remain safely usable. A printed product does not constitute general permission to lay carpet there. Clarify location requirements with management, the operator or the relevant authority for the particular property.
Cleaning, approval and reuse
Specify vacuuming, washing or commercial cleaning. A machine-washable mat must also have dimensions and construction compatible with the planned process. One model’s instructions do not apply to all printed mats.
Agree design, dimensions, material and care before production. For events, packaging, transport, later cleaning and storage affect reuse. Check repeat-order arrangements and potential batch differences.
Compare the complete execution
Compare the same dimensions, quantity, material and print quality. Artwork, samples, edging, cutting and delivery can be separate items. Existing carpets also require agreement on suitability assessment.
Choose the lowest-cost suitable solution meeting quality and timing. Include transport, spare stock and time for laying, cleaning and storage. Unknown shipping charges and your own work are not free.

Frequently asked questions
Can an existing carpet be printed?
Material and condition need assessment. Many offers concern a new carpet already printed to suit the request.
Are logo mats and jass mats the same?
No. Floor exposure, handling, surface and size differ; specify intended use.
Do dimensions include the border?
This varies by product. Agree finished external size and included edging explicitly.
Will small text look like print on paper?
Not automatically. Pile and print system affect detail; a sample can show suitability.
Can I place a printed carpet in an escape route?
A printing quote is not location approval. Check property-specific requirements and safe use with the relevant party.
Is every logo mat machine washable?
No. Material, backing, dimensions and manufacturer care instructions must suit the planned process.
