Car wrapping with clear areas and materials

A full wrap, a contrasting roof and paint-protection film are different jobs. Compare the colour, substrate and inclusion of edges, fittings or old film. Describe the result; materials and installation should suit the actual vehicle.

Distinguish colour, graphics and protection

Colour film changes the visible surface. Printed film applies a graphic design; printing, artwork preparation and protective laminate may be separate items. Paint-protection film has a different purpose and is not equivalent to every colour wrap. Define the goal and areas before comparing materials. Simple lettering can be scoped as a separate additional job.

Define what a full wrap includes

“Full” may mean only painted surfaces visible from outside. Door jambs, sills, inner edges, handles, mirrors and plastic parts are not automatically included. For partial wrapping, state panels, sides and exclusions. Ask about seams, overlaps and complex shapes. Compare the same coverage.

Check paint condition before wrapping

Film does not repair rust, peeling paint or poor adhesion from previous repainting. Irregularities may remain visible and problematic substrates can complicate removal. Mention known repainting, coatings and damage. Agree cleaning, preparation and any repairs before fitting. Newly painted parts need assessment for the paint and film systems involved.

Agree colour, samples and suitability

Gloss, matte, satin, metallic and textured finishes are different options. A screen does not replace a sample; directional effects can change with installation orientation. Approve printed artwork before production. Materials must suit shape and use. Vehicle functions, visibility areas and markings should not simply be treated as ordinary painted surfaces.

Plan care and eventual removal

Durability depends on material, area, orientation, exposure and maintenance. Figures for a vertical side panel do not automatically apply to a roof. Ask about applicable warranty terms and care, particularly for matte surfaces. Removable film does not promise damage-free or residue-free removal on every paint finish. Aged film and damaged substrates may increase the work.

Compare quotes for the same complete job

Exact count, models and areas form the basis. Film type, old-film removal, preparation, dismantling and fitting affect price. Separate artwork and printing from a colour-only wrap where relevant. Identify special edges, extras and downtime. A cheaper quote is comparable only when it covers the same areas and work.

Prepare samples, approval and collection

Prepare models, panels and known paint history. Agree samples, areas and preparation and confirm the final scope. Arrange downtime and collection. Check surfaces, agreed seams, edges and refitted parts at handover. Clarify care and removal. If vehicle details change or a special installation is planned, check the applicable procedure with the responsible authority beforehand.

Frequently asked questions

Does a full wrap include door jambs?

Not automatically. Define visible areas, jambs, sills, edges and fittings in the scope.

Does film permanently cover paint damage?

Film is not a repair. Assess rust, adhesion problems and irregularities before installation.

Is colour wrap the same as paint-protection film?

No. Purpose and materials differ. Define colour or protection needs and request a suitable solution.

How long does a wrap last?

There is no single applicable lifespan. Film, orientation, use and care matter; roof and side panels may differ.

Will removal always leave the paint undamaged?

That cannot be promised universally. Paint adhesion, previous repairs and film age and condition affect work and risk.

What details does the request need?

Exact vehicle count, models, areas, goal and known previous work. Describe colours or artwork briefly; no chassis number or mandatory files.
