Choosing an acoustic booth
A phone booth and a meeting pod serve different purposes. First define simultaneous occupancy and how long people will use it, then compare suitable models and the services required.
Calls, work or meetings?
Describe the main use rather than just a booth size. Seating and tables for short calls can differ from those for extended screen work. If possible, try a booth before ordering several.
| Use | What to check |
|---|---|
| Phone calls | Easy access and comfortable speech |
| Individual work | Work surface, seating and session length |
| Meetings | Usable seats and required equipment |
Check the location and delivery route
Compare external dimensions, internal space and installation clearances separately. Enough floor space does not establish that the door will leave a passage clear or that packages can reach the location.
- Access. Confirm doors, lift, stairs and assembly space before ordering.
- Usability. Assess the interior, doorway and threshold for the intended users.
Compare acoustic performance
Ask for a whole-booth test result and its method, such as speech level reduction under ISO 23351-1. A material rating does not describe the whole booth. A marketing claim does not establish absolute confidentiality.
Consider ventilation and equipment
Booth ventilation uses air from the surrounding room. It does not replace that room’s air quality or ventilation. Check the proposed model’s lighting, sockets and equipment.
Check building integration
Detector or sprinkler requirements inside a booth need checking for the particular location. Overseas product approval does not replace this check. Ask the quote to specify responsibilities.
What affects the price?
Compare the usable complete solution: booth, interior fit-out, transport, handling and assembly. Clarify connections, building work and future relocation separately. A general price range would be unhelpful without comparable model and service specifications.
Compare quotes on the same basis
Ask for identified models and separate line items. Check unresolved assumptions before comparing totals.
| Item | Specify in the quote |
|---|---|
| Booth | Quantity, model, usable seats and interior fittings |
| Installation | Delivery to the location, assembly and packaging removal |
| Ongoing costs | Maintenance, spares, warranty coverage and relocation |
Prepare your request
Start with intended use, occupancy per booth, quantity and delivery location. A photo or plan can help later; the supplier can explain technical ratings and installation requirements.
Frequently asked questions
What size do I need?
Occupancy, activity and fittings matter. Check usable internal dimensions and movement space, rather than external size alone.
Is a booth completely soundproof?
Assess the specific model and location. Explicitly confirm suitability for confidential conversations.
Can the booth be relocated?
It depends on the model and route. Clarify disassembly, reassembly and responsibility beforehand.
Are the table and seat included?
Not automatically. Compare the specified configuration and separately priced fittings.
How many booths should I order?
Use simultaneous demand and observed peaks. A fixed employee ratio is not automatically appropriate.
What do I need for an initial quote?
Use, occupancy, quantity, equipment, location and timing. Unknown technical details can be clarified later.
